April marks Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), an annual campaign that aims to raise public awareness about sexual violence and educate individuals and communities on how to prevent it. At Lace & Tassels, we recognize the importance of supporting survivors of sexual assault, abuse, or violence in their healing journey. As a survivor-owned and trauma-informed emporium, we are committed to creating a safe and inclusive space for all individuals to explore and celebrate their sexuality.
Shattering the silence: what is sexual assault?
Sexual assault is any unwanted sexual contact or behavior that occurs without explicit consent. It can take many forms, including touching, fondling, oral or anal sex, and penetration. The trauma of sexual assault can affect a survivor's relationship with their body, sexuality and relationships. At Lace & Tassels, we understand that survivors may experience a range of emotions and reactions, including shame, guilt, anxiety, and disconnection from their body.
Our products and services are curated with your care and comfort in mind.
Our products and services are designed to assist survivors in their journey towards healing and empowerment. We offer a carefully selected range of products that promote sexual wellness and pleasure, such as non penetrative vibrators, dilators, lubricants, and sensual massage oils. We understand that pleasure can be an important tool in healing from trauma, and we prioritize the safety and comfort of our customers. Our team is trained in trauma-informed care and can provide guidance and support to individuals who may be navigating the process of reconnecting with their body and sexuality.
Promoting a culture of consent.
At Lace & Tassels, we promote that consent is a fundamental aspect of healthy sexuality. Consent is an ongoing conversation between partners that involves clear and enthusiastic communication about boundaries and desires. It is important to remember that consent must be freely given and can be withdrawn at any time. Our team is committed to promoting a culture of consent and can provide links to educational resources on how to navigate conversations about consent with partners.
Survivor led business, supporting other survivors.
As a survivor-owned business, we are dedicated to supporting survivors in our community. We stand in solidarity with survivors and advocate for their rights and needs. Our team can also signpost you to local resources and organizations, counsellors and sex therapists who may be able to help aid you in the recovery process. We also recognize the intersectionality of sexual violence and prioritize creating a space that is inclusive of individuals from diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to, gender, sexuality, race, and ability.
Pleasure plays an important role in the healing process.
We believe that pleasure can be a powerful tool in healing and empowerment. We are committed to creating a space that is safe, inclusive, and accessible for all individuals to explore and celebrate their sexuality.
